Task 4: Wrestling

For this task about free topic, I will talk about my boyfriend and his passion: Wrestling: “The sport or activity of grappling with an opponent and trying to throw or hold them down on the ground, typically according to a code of rules”. Wrestling is one of the oldest forms of combat. The origins of wrestling go back 15.000 years and represented through cave drawings.

One of the first images that comes to mind when people thinks about wrestling, is the idea of ancient Greece, their several combats, their clothes, and The Olympic Games. Greeks are the ideal of wrestling, and their rules and codes has been softening as time goes by, but, their central notion of competition remains.

About my bf, He is a selected athlete who represents Chile in national and international tournaments. He wrestling and trains at Centro de alto rendimiento (CAR) in Santiago, and He is governed internationally by United World Wrestling (UWW).

This is his passion, the thing that He do everyday since He was 13 (now 20), and the sport that has kept him bruised.

Task 1: Info about myself

My name is Antonia and I was born on February 15th, 2002 at Santiago of Chile, my mom got in the clinic at 7pm (14th feb), and I was born at 3:52am on the next day. She said that was a exhausting situation, but with a happy end. About my studies, I went to María Inmaculada school for the elementary school, then to Carmela Carvajal for the high school, and now I´m going to University of Chile to learn Anthropology. At present, I live with my mom Marcela and my little brother Joaquín. We live in Stgo, at apartment, but we would like to have a dog (mostly me and my brother). I hope that come true. My hobbies have been many. I play contrabass, roller-skate, read, see movies, eat, cook, play with nerfs, chatting, walk with Akila (female pitbull of my bf), and other activities. But because pandemic, I haven´t done most of this things.  I really love Akila.  Here is a pic of her, she loves the sun.

I am studying anthropology. Anthropology is one of the careers that studies the human being, the society, its constitution, and origin. Also, study the culture. This career uses data, theories, historical perspectives, currents of thought, anthropological methods, and others, for to be applicable to specific companies and cases.   Some renowned anthropologists are Clifford Geertz, Ruth Benedict, Franz Boas, Claude Lévi-Strauss, and others. Anthropology performs a type of research called  ethnography,  which is based on field work and a social research method that systematically studies the culture of different human groups. And, in this situation, the ethnographer and a social group from a specific place are linked, where the ethnographer observes the social group for a long time and studies its behavior. Task 5: A photograph. Its story.

She is my grandmother Lyda. A beautiful person. I can tell that when I was younger (a kid), and when I traveled to the north of Chile I only want to see my dad, but when the time passed and I grew up, I did not traveled to see him, I only want to see my grandmother.  Things have changed and I started to talk a lot with she, to laugh with she, to miss her, to love her so much.   At this moment of my life I can say that my grandmother is the person that I love most. She taught me everything I know now, how to be a good person and how to be happy.
